We have been listening in the buzz regarding the HDMI 1.3 for quite a time and are curious about the latest feature of the HDTV series.
Let’s have a quick look in the new innovation that possibly will bring about the revolution in the HDTV, Blu-ray, HD-DVD and standard DVD player lineup.
HDMI 1.3 basically is a fresh standard for the high-quality digital A/V connection, quite similar to the 1080p.
Some of the major specs of the HDMI 1.3 are:
- HDMI 1.3 offers twice the bandwidth of earlier versions (10.2 Gbps vs 4.95 Gbps).
- HDMI 1.3 can transmit 10, 12 or even 16-bit color depths (in comparison of 8-bit of current HDMI).
- It provides a wider range of colors than ever before via Wider Color Gamut
- It also allows the players and A/V receivers to handle bitstreams of the Dolby Digital True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio surround formats.
- Lip-sync compensation to holdup the audio to match the video on out-of-sync presentations.
Currently there are few products, such as the PlayStation, the upcoming Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player and Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 projector, featuring the latest HDMI 1.3 technology, but we may expect lots of gadgets to incorporate the new innovation in the recent future. At present, HDMI 1.3 is in the pipelines and will take some time to come the forefront and get a place in your HDTVs. Till then you will have to do with your old ones.
